SharePoint Document Management System

SharePoint 2010 based Document Management System (DMS) is bifurcated into two DMS processes: MEMO and SPEC. Memo system needs a user to create a document library. A user then adds research documents to this library and sends it for approval. Based on the hierarchy defined in active directory documents are automatically sent to respective approver.

In the SPEC system a user creates document library and adds documents to this library. Then the user has an option to create three groups- Contributors, Approvers and Distributors. An additional feature required in SPEC system was a Sunset Review process. In this process on a periodic basis (3 months) a document creator would receive an auto notification from the system. Post this notification a user has to re-review an approved SPEC document and also re-start the approval workflow process.
